It’s now September 2014 and Windows Phone has an estimated 10% market share in Ireland with Windows powered devices sales rising.
Sadly there is still an app gap for Irish users especially with local apps, the main apps are there either be it by third party which in some case can be better than the original.
Alongside this there is also much media hatred for Windows Phone and an ever increasing Apple only environment subsequently Blackberry is almost dead and we even have a banking app for that,Android and iOS do though remain the top two Operating systems worldwide.Windows phone is bigger than blackberry end of..
Windows Phone has had a rocky year with Mr Nadella taking the helm at Microsoft and has made some stern choices some of which make no sense and some do for its business model but he has let go lots of the good people from Nokia who had a role to play in the industry and build the Windows Phone platform,WP has took off so much in the last year we have new OEMs and other well known brands jump on the Windows platform.Nokia made windows phone attractive with its devices and MS now seem to be focusing on cloud and enterprise, strange move when its the ecosystem as a whole works both ways, mobile too…
The future now for windows phone is up in the air from my personal standpoint,as an avid fan and user too many wrongs and little or no rights have happened in the last few months which are putting people off and even windows user are moving to other platforms and to be honest i cant blame them.I myself use android purely due to the lack of local apps and to see what it has to offer.
From October last year we already approached the banks on the app situation and as per norm the typical scripted fobb off response came into play which makes it clear there will probably be no apps here for Windows Phone..
Lets start with Ulster Bank..These have apps on Android,iOS and Blackberry, which is a dead horse to be honest.
TODAY..fobbed off again as you can see,a complete contradiction to the last response.
Up next it is A.I.B
Blanked again so it seems by this financial institution currently has apps on Android and iOS
And finally its Bank of Ireland .. Apps on Android and iOS.
Once again the usual fob off and have a nice day thank you very much,in a nutshell get lost. So there we have it,ignorance yet again or is it due to the lack of coverage of windows phone, the hatred by some other OS tech fanboys in the media whose preferences get so much coverage it shrouds the rest ?
